DIY Halo Elite Costume - Amazing!

June 30, 2010 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Oh, you’ve made your own assault rifle from Halo? That’s cute. Wait, you’ve made your own Spartan suit? Meh, it’s okay, we guess. See, the dudes at Peter Mander FX have ruined us forever, because they’ve produced about the best homage to Halo one could ever hope for: the ultra-realistic Elite suit you see above.

Largely comprised of plastic, TLC and dark magicks, the suit not only looks impressive, but it’s animatronic. We can’t imagine the blood, sweat and/or tears it took to produce such a lifelike recreation of this Covenant class, but we can get some idea from the video documenting the creation of this behemoth, which you can find past the break. Batman Tumbler Golf Cart - Way Cool!

June 25, 2010 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Golf carts are fun, but they just look so puny.  Instead of riding around in some incredibly slow and fragile looking golf cart, you need this Batman inspired golf cart.  Sure, it’s not going to be able to do nearly as many tricks as the tumbler in the Batman movies, but at least you’ll get to look cool while cruising around at the high speed of 15 miles an hour.

This just happens to have been created by a Warner Bros. employee who works in LA.  Hopefully his creation will soon be a part of the tour of the studio, at least it should be added.  There is no current tutorial or any hint on how this was made.  This is just a picture that someone captured while on the studio grounds, so there really isn’t much information at all to go with it.

Razer Leads The Way With Abyssus Gaming Mouse

November 11, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

abyssus

Gamers tend to take their “vocation” seriously, as bragging rights are up for stake with winners feeling that nice, warm glow all over while losers look at their mouse and start cursing. That’s right – watch any average gamer duke it out with the rest of their mates at a LAN party and you’ll realize that the losing side tend to be more frustrated in terms of body language, sending forth a smattering of cuss words alongside banging the mouse on the table, touting that they missed that crucial shot due to being let down by inferior gaming hardware. Razer has been in the business long enough to know what they’re doing, and their latest release would be the Razer Abyssus gaming mouse that target those who are new to the world of gaming and want a feel of what professional gaming equipment is like before diving headlong later on with the gaming bug going at full steam ahead.

The Razer Abyssus gaming mouse will merge both simplicity with a state-of-the-art 3.5G 3500dpi infrared sensor to make sure you can make the shot just about any and every time as long as you have the ability to do so. Targeting gamers who demand reliability and functionality under the fiercest gameplay conditions, the Razer Abyssus will come equipped with a couple of large non-slip buttons that have been tuned for maximum tactile feedback, featuring Razer’s built-in Hyperesponse technology. Located underneath, Razer has placed a couple of easily accessible mechanical switches, where one of them is used for on-the-fly dpi switching for a choice of 450, 1800, or 3500dpi, while the other offers a polling rate switch that enables instant adjustment from a standard 125hz to 1000hz Ultrapolling.

Expect the Razer Abyssus to hit North America for $49.99, while our friends living across the Atlantic have it slightly cheaper (dollar-for-dollar) at €39.99. As for the other regions of the world, they’ll just have to wait until later next month – hopefully in time for the holiday season.

Trick out your Xbox 360 with windows and lights

Tons of people own an Xbox 360. But almost all of them have a boring, stock model. You know, one without a window in the top and sweet LED lights inside that let you see the components as they play. You, however, can be different.

The XCM Black Light Chameleon case lets you make your Xbox 360 the most unique console on the block. You can choose from one of 7 colors for the lights or just have them cycle through them all. It’s a DIY affair, but the kit comes with everything you need to perform the surgery yourself in about 10 to 15 minutes. Seems worth the effort to me.

iPhone Server Farm stretches the boundaries of smartphones

In recent months some have chirped that the iPhone is really a sort netbook in disguise, and now with the debut of a new prototype, the iPhone may start doing double duty as an ultra portable server solution.

Created by Japan’s FreeBit, the iPhone server farm prototype houses up to five iPhones and is really just a showcase for the company’s Serversman software.

The free software supports the iPhone, iPod Touch and Windows Mobile phones allowing you to use your phone for network storage, as a file viewer or as a mini-web server. You can see a video explanation and demo of the entire set-up here.

Fujifilm Presents A 3D Digital Camera

July 15, 2009 by tcgames · 2 Comments

3d_camera_0720Considering the number of 3D movies in the theaters this summer, as well as those coming this holiday, one can’t help wonder if we are entering into a 3D era that will not end as abruptly as it did in the fifties.

Fujifilm has now announced that they are putting out a camera that can take 3D images. At first I thought that this was a camera that could produce prints that would be 3D, with certain glasses, but apparently, I was wrong.

According to my source, “to view the 3D images, users can put them on a special 3D enabled digital photo frame or print them with a special 3D printing process that needs no glasses to view”.

It can accomplish this wondrous feat using dual lenses that are spaced out just like human eyes. This technology is not cheap, as this 10 Megapixel camera is priced at $600. The digital photo frame for this camera is about $200.

Here’s the real kicker. These three-dimensional prints are at a record $5 each. That’s probably too expensive for the average consumer, but if someone wants a 3-D pic of themselves, this Fujifilm camera could be good as a carnival gag or something.

As I recall, I remember seeing a TV ad in the eighties that featured a camera that could take 3-D images. I don’t remember the company that made it, but it clearly did not catch on. Then again, I seem to remember a barrage of 3D movies back in the early eighties, and that fad quickly died.

USB Turntable Comes In Its Own Carrying Case

July 1, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

USB turntable comes in its own carrying case

I already have a turntable but I still want this one. I love the look.

Despite record players being a relatively old device, they’re still just so damned cool. And this new USB turntable comes in its own suitcase, letting you tote it around with you wherever you go.

In addition to looks awesome in a retro-stylish way, the USB port allows you to digitize your records into MP3 format on your computer.

Not that you need to do that when you’ve got a portable record player on your hands. It’s available now from Urban Outfitters for $140.
