New Iron Man 2 trailer is kick-ass!

Paramount has released the newest trailer for Jon Favreau’s upcoming Iron Man 2, and you can view it at Apple.com. Needless to say, it’s awesome.

We get lots of Robert Downey Jr.’s trademark humor (they should call him Tony Snark), Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts, a new look at War Machine, a lot of Mickey Rourke’s cool new villain Whiplash and a bit of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow bringing the smackdown.

The sequel features the continuing adventures of billionaire industrialist Tony Stark and his alter ego, Iron Man. It opens May 7, 2010.

Photo - Mickey Rourke As Whiplash In ‘Iron Man 2′

Paramount Pictures has released the first photo of Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix from Iron Man 2. See the full photo after the jump.

The accompanying article in USA Today clears up a few things. The suit, which the Russian criminal put together, consists of a pair of whips, powered by the glowing chest piece. Director Jon Favreau says that the technology used in Rourke’s suit is “definitely related” to the tech developed by Tony Stark, and “that’s part of the core theme of the film.”

It seems to me that this is likely from a sequence early into Vanko’s career as a super villain, so I’d assume that this suit is the Mark 1 version that the character constructed out of found parts in jail or what not. I’m sure we’ll see a more advanced version of this suit later in the film. But that’s just a guess on my part. Head on over to Screenrant to see the photo in high res. Mickey Rourke Shows Up At WrestleMania 25

mickey rourke wwe wrestlemania 25

The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke did in fact show up at WWE WresltMania 25, and was in the audience during Chris Jericho’s handicap match against WWE Hall of Famers Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. After defeating all three of his opponents, Jericho challenged Rourke to come into the ring. And as expected, Rourke stepped over the guard rail, climbed into the squared circle, and laid a few punches on the WWE star.

It’s unlikely that this will progress into a match that pits Jericho vs. Rourke as Mickey is set to go into production on Iron Man 2 and the production insurance won’t allow him to compete in a full wrestling match. Photos above courtesy of WWE. Thanks to /Film reader Jason G for the tip.
