Star Trek Webcam - Extreme Geek Toy

April 14, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

star_trek_usb_webcam_product_sheet-thumb-550x395-16226The Star Trek Webcam is set up for 720p, and can mount on your desktop screen with a bendable gooseneck. Apparently, the webcam has a sticker underneath the insignia, and you can plug it in to a USB.

Plug and Play software should get the Enterprise-shaped cam working better than Scotty could, and the nacelles will light up when the camera is on. The nacelles are those red engine things on the spaceship, for those who are non-Trekkies.

I suppose we could add this to the infinitesimal gear that has come out for Star Trek fans in the past fifty years. The most recent contributions are the Star Trek Scene It game and the Wallpaper. We are probably going to see a lot more franchise-related stuff as the release of the new Star Trek movie by J.J. Abrams comes out.

My sources say that the Star Trek webcam is doing to be released by Dream Cheeky, but there is no word on a release date or a price.

Cartoon Network To Air ‘Marvel Super Squad’ In 2009

Marvel Super Squad's Captain AmericaVariety is reporting that the Cartoon Network has ordered 26 episodes of the Marvel Super Hero Squad animated series, which features “super stylized” versions of key Marvel superheroes including Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine, Silver Surfer, and Iron Man. The new Marvel toon series, which mixes humor with adventure (see “Marvel Super Hero Squad”), will join a potent Cartoon Network lineup that already has the mostly highly rated animated series for boys 6-14, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

According to Variety, voice talent for the Marvel Super Hero Squad series includes Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants), Steve Blum (Wolverine and the X-Men), Gary DeLisle (The Fairly Oddparents), and Charlie Adler (Transformers). Hasbro is already producing “super-deformed” (or “super-stylized” if you will) action figures based on the new series, and Marvel is planning to issue a Marvel Super Hero Squad comic book in the fall, when the actual cartoon should be debuting on the Cartoon Network.

The Marvel Super Hero Squad will be the third new Marvel-based toon to premiere in 2009. Wolverine and the X-Men debuted on Nicktoons in January and posted the highest rated original series premiere ever (see “Wolverine and the X-Men Debut Boffo”), while the Iron Man: Armored Adventures animated series is set to bow on the same cable network this spring. DC Comics-based superhero cartoons once held a commanding lead over their Marvel brethren in the TV animation category, but by the end of 2009 Marvel will have more than caught up with its rival.

The Star Wars Force Trainer - Cool Toy Or Just Plain Weird?

January 13, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

This has got to be the best and most humorous use of brain wave technology.  Just like all the other brain wave games this one gives you an obstacle you have to accomplish by focusing and thinking hard on moving the object.  The more you concentrate, the better you’ll do.  Although the obstacle course with this one is far more simple than the Mindflex, it has plenty of geek appeal.  This one adds a Star Wars spin to the concept, which means there will likely be no shortage of fans pursuing this game.

Attach the headpiece to your head and use the The Force instead of those brainwaves.  After all this is a training device.  Of course they don’t mention how exactly you can become a Jedi by moving a ball up and down.  Nor do they say when exactly you get a shiny new lightsaber that actually cuts through things.  However, at least you’ll have the comfort of knowing that you’re helping to fund George Lucas and his many escapades.  You’ll be able to pick this up probably in the 3rd quarter of this year for about $100.
